Bitter almond oil is a pale yellow essential oil with a potent fruity-almond aroma, derived from the seed kernels of the bitter almond tree (Prunus dulcis var. amara).

Prunus amygladus amara. Essential Oil obtained by steam distillation of the crushed kernels of Prunus amygladus amara. Bitter almond oil contains prussic acid, known as cyanide, and is a well-known poison. The yield from Almond is very low and frequently bitter almond is made from apricot kernels and is identical.
