Rose Hydrosol

Rose hydrosol is the by-product of essential oil production, and is created from the water that is used to steam distill plant materials. In this process the whole plant is used rather than just the rose petals. Clear to pale golden in color, medium intensity rose scent. Water soluble.

In Persia. A 10th Century Persian alchemist named Avicenna is said to have been the man behind the refined rose water closest to what is used today. During the same century, a new way of distilling rose petals was also developed in Persia.
