Wintergreen Essential Oil is extracted from the leaves of Gaultheria Procumbens L. through steam distillation. It is native to Asia, Australasia, and North, and South America and belongs to the family of Ericaceae. It is known as Wintergreen, because of its evergreen nature in the winter season.

Wintergreen oil is an essential oil that's traditionally derived from the leaves of the wintergreen plant. Methyl salicylate, the active ingredient of wintergreen oil, can be chemically synthesized and is often referred to as wintergreen oil in many products.
